Discussing Gullman's travels to Manila and Singapore, hoping that he was not in Manila for the recent "sharp explosion." Dreaming of traveling to the places that Gullman visits and of writing a book about Manila, but noting that at present he has "too tight a hold on the reading public to make the results of the time and travel pay for themselves." Discussing the weather and mentioning the missionary Dr. Davis and Professor Foxwell.
